You don't need more advice. You need clarity & a plan!
Mar 26, 2026If your child's worried about school, you've probably spent hours googling what to do. Maybe you've joined some online communities and you've probably spent a lot of time talking to family and friends. You've heard lots of opinions, and maybe you've even tried out some of those ideas, but things haven't changed or they haven't changed enough.
I'm betting that you don't need more advice - what you need is clarity and a plan.
Supporting a child with school anxiety isn't about trying out lots of different things and just hoping something works.
It is about knowing exactly what's going on and targeting the key issues that are causing distress. That might mean setting a few realistic, achievable goals for your young person to work towards related to them feeling happier in school. It's also about identifying exactly the right kind of support, targeted to address the biggest issues. That might mean:
- reducing environmental stress,
- increasing the support around your child
- or helping them to build specific skills.
And it's also important to be measuring that what you're doing is making a difference. And if it's not, to try something different.
