This course might not be the right fit if…

✘  You’re mainly looking for help with navigating the SEND system—like applying for an EHCP, going to tribunal, or seeking EOTAS.

✘  Your child is experiencing more complex mental health difficulties that go beyond school-related anxiety—in that case, you may need more specialist support.

If you're unsure whether this course is the right fit for your situation, feel free to reach out—I'm always happy to help point you in the right direction.

By the End of School Anxiety Support, You Will Have:

Helped your child share their views

You’ll have supported your child to express, in detail, what feels hard about school — even if they usually struggle to put it into words.

Identified key reasons behind the anxiety

Using practical checklists, you’ll have explored both what’s going on for your child and what may be happening in the school environment that’s contributing to their worries.

Approached conversations with school more confidently

You’ll have prepared for and navigated difficult conversations in a calm, structured way — helping to build a shared understanding and advocate effectively for the right support.

Set realistic, compassionate goals

You’ll have identified clear, achievable goals that genuinely matter to your child — not targets just linked to getting them into school.

Clarified the support needed to reach those goals

You’ll know what practical support needs to be in place at school and home, rather than relying on vague promises or general reassurance.

Learned how to respond to high anxiety moments

You’ll feel more confident supporting your child through difficult times — whether that’s tense mornings, after-school meltdowns, or moments of overwhelm.

With over 10 years of experience as an educational psychologist, I worked with lots of children, schools and families to get to the bottom of why school feels so hard and to figure out the kind of support that actually helps.

  • Most of the children I work with are autistic or have ADHD, often with other challenges like difficulties with writing or emotional regulation.

  • I’ve also supported schools through training, led a multi-professional team creating Local Authority guidance on Emotionally Based School Avoidance, and developed ELSA (Emotional Literacy Support Assistant) training to help children manage emotions, build friendships, boost self-esteem, and cope with big things like bereavement and loss.

  • This course brings together everything I’ve learned—so you don’t have to figure it all out on your own.

School Anxiety Support is open for enrolment only a few times a year.

THIS IS HOW IT WORKS

Watch Four Core Modules

Module 1 - Understanding School Based Anxiety

  • You’ll develop a clearer understanding of anxiety so it's easier to respond in a way that actually helps.

  • You’ll explore what underpins school-based anxiety and how this differs from more general anxiety, helping you understand why it often requires a more tailored and comprehensive approach.

  • You’ll also learn how neurodiversity can impact school anxiety, so you can better understand why school can feel particularly overwhelming for children with autism, ADHD, or sensory processing differences.

Module 2 - Working With the School

  • This module covers how to work collaboratively with your child’s school, so everyone is taking a consistent, joined-up approach that supports your child more effectively - even if this has been difficult in the past.

  • You’ll be supported to have clearer, more productive conversations with school staff, helping you feel more confident and more likely to be heard. You’ll have access to a planning tool to help you prepare for these conversations, along with a suggested agenda to support meetings to run more smoothly.

  • You’ll also gain a clear understanding of what schools in England should be providing for children with SEND and school-based anxiety, so you can feel more confident your child is getting the right support—and know how to push back if they’re not.

Module 3 - Assessing the Situation

  • You’ll learn how to identify the underlying reasons why your child is struggling at school, which is a crucial step in working out what support will actually help.

  • You’ll be introduced to the School Anxiety Clarity Cards, which can support your child to share their experiences, even if they find it hard to put their worries into words.

  • Finally, you’ll use structured checklists to consider both your child’s needs and the school environment, helping you develop a more complete and balanced understanding of what's really going on.

Module 4 - Creating a Plan

  • You’ll learn how to develop a personalised support plan that focuses on the areas that matter most for your child.

  • You’ll be guided to set meaningful, achievable goals that your child wants to work towards.

  • You’ll also develop a clearer understanding of what kind of support to ask for, so you can advocate more confidently for your child.

  • We’ll look at how to review progress regularly, so the plan can be adjusted as your child’s needs change.

  • And finally, you’ll have the opportunity to choose specific areas to explore in more depth, helping you build a more targeted and effective approach.

Then Choose Your Pathways

  • Using what you’ve discovered in Module 3 about why school is difficult for your child, you’ll choose the pathways that best match their needs.
  • These pathways help you take a deeper look at the areas causing your child the most distress—because school anxiety is rarely just about anxiety. There are often underlying factors, such as sensory overload, relationship difficulties, or autistic burnout, that make school genuinely hard.
  • Each pathway includes example goals you can use in a support plan, along with practical, easy-to-implement strategies.
  • You don’t need to follow all of the pathways—just the ones that are most relevant for your child. Most families find that more than one pathway applies.

Worries, Low Mood & Emotional Regulation.

  • You’ll explore how to help your child recognise, label, and express their feelings, and develop the skills they need to regulate them more effectively, both at home and in school.

  • You’ll also learn how to support your child during moments of distress. We’ll look at co-regulation—how to stay calm and provide the right kind of support to help your child feel safe and begin to settle.

  • We’ll explore how to support your child to face fears gradually, using small, manageable steps, which can be particularly helpful if your child is out of school and is aiming to return.

  • You’ll also gain practical strategies to support your child during periods of low mood to help them re-engage with activities they love.

  • And finally, we’ll look at ways to calmer smoother mornings and reduce after-school overwhelm.

Belonging & Relationships

  • You’ll explore ways to help your child build and maintain friendships, whether they are autistic or not, and how to support them in developing meaningful and positive social connections.

  • You’ll learn how your child can be supported to feel a stronger sense of belonging within the school environment.

  • You’ll also gain access to two bonus lessons that show you have to use social stories and comic strip conversations to support your child’s social understanding which can help them navigate confusing social situations.

A Preference for Certainty

  • You’ll learn practical ways to support children who find comfort in routine and predictability, helping to make transitions between home and school feel smoother and more manageable.

  • You’ll explore how to support your child to cope with uncertainty in lessons and social situations, so they can feel more confident and settled.

  • You’ll also learn how to support your child when things don’t go to plan, helping to reduce stress and build their ability to cope with change over time.

The Sensory Environment

  • You’ll learn how some children have differences in the way they process sensory information and how this may impact their experience at school.

  • We’ll explore practical strategies that schools can put in place to create more supportive and manageable environments.

  • You’ll also gain a better understanding of the role of occupational therapists, and how they can support in identifying and meeting your child’s sensory needs.

  • Alongside this, we’ll look at ways to help your child begin to recognise and communicate their own sensory preferences, so they can start to advocate for themselves over time.

Health & Physical Symptoms of Stress

  • You’ll gain a clearer understanding of how stress can affect your child’s health, so you can recognise the signs early and respond in a supportive way.

  • You’ll learn what research tells us about autistic burnout—what it is, what can contribute to it, and what helps protect against it—and, importantly, how to apply this to your own child, so you can reduce the risk of burnout or support their recovery if it has already happened.

  • We’ll also focus on practical ways to reduce the symptoms of long term stress. This lesson looks at stress more generally, and the strategies are relevant not just for your child, but for you as well.

Support for Learning

  • You’ll develop a clearer understanding of how difficulties with learning can lead to anxiety, helping you recognise what may be driving your child’s struggles.

  • You’ll explore common challenges, including language difficulties, general and specific learning difficulties, and difficulties with reading, spelling, and writing, along with practical ways to support them.

  • We’ll also look at how perfectionism and missed learning can impact your child, and what can help.

  • Finally, you’ll gain a better understanding of how differences in executive functioning—such as planning, organisation, focus, working memory, and time management—can make school challenging, along with practical strategies to support your child to feel more confident and able to cope.

Thinking Positively About Themselves & School

  • You’ll learn how to support your child if they don’t want to go to school, don’t enjoy it, or feel that it’s pointless or unfair.

  • You’ll explore practical ways to shift these feelings over time, helping your child feel more engaged and positive about school.

  • We’ll also focus on how to build your child’s confidence and independence skills, so they begin to feel more positive about themselves and are happier to take more risk and try new things.

Issues Outside of School

  • You'll learn how to support young people who have experienced life events that may be impacting how they feel about school.

Finally, you’ll bring everything together to create a personalised support plan for your child.

The plan will focus on what is causing the most distress, set realistic and compassionate goals, and identify the support needed to help them reach those goals.

Got Questions? I've Got Answers.

What age range is this for?

This course is designed for children aged between 7 and 16 but if your child is older or younger than this, much will still be relevant.

We’ve already tried so much and nothing seems to work. Will this course really help?

If you’re feeling like you’ve tried everything, you’re not alone. Many parents will come to this course feeling exhausted and disheartened.

This isn’t a one-size-fits-all solution or a list of generic tips. It helps you step back and properly understand what’s driving your child’s difficulties — and then build a plan that’s tailored to their specific needs.

Most importantly, it gives you a clear framework to follow, so you’re no longer guessing, firefighting, or jumping from one idea to the next. Instead, you’ll have a structured, thoughtful approach that brings direction and purpose to what you’re doing.

I’m already feeling overwhelmed — I’m not sure I’ll have time for this.

Most of the videos are under 15 minutes, so you can dip in and out at a pace that works for you. It’s been designed with busy, exhausted parents in mind.

There are four core modules that will be helpful for most families, and then optional deep-dive modules you can choose from depending on what’s most relevant to your child — you don’t need to do everything.

And remember, when creating a plan, it’s usually more effective to focus on a few clear, targeted goals rather than trying to tackle too much at once.

How do I know this course will be relevant to my child?

This course was created with real, complex children in mind. Whether your child is autistic, has ADHD, is awaiting assessment, or has no diagnosis at all — if school feels hard for them, this course will help you understand why and what can be done.

It covers the most common underlying factors linked to school anxiety, based on research and my experience as an educational psychologist.

Most importantly, this isn’t a one-size-fits-all programme. The whole purpose is to help you build a personalised plan that reflects your child’s specific needs, strengths and challenges.

Shouldn’t the school be sorting this out?

Schools absolutely have a responsibility to support your child. But in reality, meaningful change often happens when parents and schools work together with a clear, shared plan.

This course helps you understand what appropriate support should look like, so you can advocate calmly and confidently. It also gives you practical tools to use at home, so your child feels supported in both environments — not just one.

Is this just another parenting course telling me what I’m doing wrong?

No, absolutely not! This is a no-blame space.

You’re already doing your very best in what is often an incredibly tough situation. This course isn’t about judging your parenting. It’s about giving you understanding, structure and practical tools from an experienced educational psychologist who knows how complex and exhausting school anxiety can be.

You deserve support — not criticism.

My child isn’t able to go to school at the moment. Will this course still be relevant?

Yes. Even if your child isn’t attending school right now, it can still be incredibly helpful to understand why school felt so hard. Many of the underlying challenges — such as sensory overload, anxiety, low mood or difficulties with emotional regulation — don’t disappear just because school is paused.

This course will help you gently build your child’s skills, confidence and self-understanding — whether that’s recognising their strengths, understanding their sensory profile, or learning how to manage big feelings. These are life skills that matter wherever your child is learning.

Supporting your child with school anxiety is probably one of the hardest things you've ever done

(But you know that.)

You care deeply — and that takes its toll

If you’re here, it’s because you’re trying. Even when you’re exhausted. Even when you’re doubting yourself.

The time, energy and emotion you pour into supporting your child really matter. Your love, persistence and determination to understand what’s going on are powerful — even on the days when it doesn’t feel like it. And you deserve support too.

You don’t have to figure this out on your own

This course will give you a framework, practical tools and step by step guidance — so you can move forward thoughtfully and confidently.

You already have the commitment. I’ll help you with the clarity.

Imagine feeling clearer & more confident - even on the toughest days.

Not because everything is suddenly fixed — school anxiety isn't straightforward and things rarely change overnight. But because you understand what’s going on and what you’re working towards. Instead of reacting to each crisis, you’d be responding with a plan. Small, realistic steps. A sense of direction.

I believe parents shouldn't have to navigate school anxiety alone.

Back in 2023, I was working as a senior educational psychologist in a local authority.

Again and again, I met children whose anxiety about school had reached crisis point. Families were exhausted. Schools were unsure what to do next. And by the time support arrived, things had often already unravelled.

What struck me most was this: with the right support earlier on, many of those situations could have unfolded very differently. And when children were no longer able to attend school, families often felt completely stuck — with no clear way forward.

There simply wasn’t enough capacity in the system for early, preventative work. Nor was there enough support for parents whose children were out of school — often the only adults their child felt able to work with.

So when I moved into private practice, I created School Anxiety Support to change that — to give families clear, practical and affordable guidance before things spiral, and to help parents and schools move forward with confidence and direction.

If your child is struggling with worries about school, School Anxiety Support is for you.

School Anxiety Support only open for enrolment only a few times a year and I'd love for you to be part of it.
